This site is run by Tookta, who has been working as a tour guide in Thailand since 2004.

Over those years Tookta has built up a network of tour guide friends all over the country, and that network is what you are booking from here. We are not a big tour agency, and we are not a tour operator. This is a website built by tour guides, for a circle of guides who actually know each other.

That matters more than it might sound. Every guide you can book through this site is someone we personally know, trust and like. There is no directory we pulled names from and no application form to fill in. Each of them has earned excellent reviews from the travellers they have shown around Thailand, and a number of them also work freelance for large tour operators, who hire them out at considerably higher rates. Here you get the same guides at a fairer price, without an agency in the middle.

If you want to go deeper than the standard tour

Plenty of visitors see the same handful of sights in the same order, and there is nothing wrong with that – it is a beautiful country and those places are popular for good reason. But if you would rather get past the surface, a network of guides is far more useful than any single company.

Between us we cover a lot of specialised ground. Some of our guides have spent years on Thai history and the country’s temples, ruins and royal sites. Others know Thai Buddhism and the rituals woven through everyday life, or Thai food and the markets it comes from, or traditional crafts, textiles and silk weaving. Others again know one particular region intimately, from the hill country and villages of the north to the islands and national parks of the south.

So if you have a specific interest, tell us about it. Rather than sending whoever happens to be free that day, we will think through the people we know and match you with the guide whose knowledge genuinely fits what you want to see. That is the real advantage of doing this as a group of friends rather than as a company – and it is how the trips people remember tend to come about.
